The mission of White Masai is to connect people with the need to protect and preserve wildlife through powerful storytelling and photographic images. The money raised through photography and writing funds the conservation of these fascinating animals. Rangers are needed to protect the environment in which the wildlife live from poachers. Researchers are needed to understand the environment in which the wildlife live, how the animals are adapting to ecological changes and how we can protect them. The human wildlife conflict is also a big threat to wild animals, through working with the local communities, practical conflict resolutions can be found. The values of White Masai are to protect, preserve and connect. White Masai is a not-for-profit business, all proceeds fund wildlife conservation projects including the Mara Predator Conservation Programme, Kenya Wildlife Trust and Born Free Foundation.

Mara Predator Conservation Programme – November 2022

After the success of my Big Cat Tails exhibition I travelled back to Kenya to meet with the Mara Predator Conservation Programme and donated the proceeds to their work.

Programme Overview

In early 2018, we brought together our two flagship predator conservation projects (focusing on lion and cheetah), into one long-term conservation commitment – our Mara Predator Conservation Programme. Our vision is a world–class conservation programme, providing evidence–based, practical management recommendations, solutions and ideas. The Mara Predator Conservation Programme has three overarching goals:

  • To help community members and landowners understand and appreciate the role of predators in the ecosystem
  • To ensure that key stakeholders in the Greater Mara Ecosystem consistently utilise sound scientific information to inform conservation strategies
  • To support stable, healthy predator populations in the Greater Mara Ecosystem by providing scientific evidence for conservation action
